Big Ideas Math: Fractions, fractions, fractions! This is difficult for 3rd graders, so any opportunity you can employ fractions at home will help your student in this area. Literacy: Reading and writing are complex skills, so we are perpetually teaching a basic set of tools that readers and writers use. Each week, while reviewing and using a litany of these skills, we also focus on one. This week, we are reviewing biographies and writing skills. Social Studies: Economic topics again--supply and demand, imports and exports, etc. The TCAP treats imports and exports as trade between countries, not states. Although the produce section might say "Oranges imported from Florida", we are teaching imports only as things we bring in from other countries. With your student, look for things that we imported in toys, clothes, and cars...and other things. Science: It's all about energy.
